Gulfama Bibi resident of Muslimabad, a village around 15 km from Mardan, has witnessed poverty in its worst form. HDF and Gulfama met in the year 2000. HDF, under its Economic Development Program, provided her a micro loan of 20,000, through which she opened a small tuck shop in her village. The Social Capital Development Program of HDF trained her on various skills. Mother of five daughters and a son, Gulfama now has married all her daughters into respectable families, owns cattle, opened a shop for her husband and now runs multiple small businesses from her home.
