Human Development Foundation (HDF), in collaboration with Pakistan National Heart Association (PANAH) organized a ceremony this week in Islamabad to launch “Study to Assess the Volume of Illicit Cigarette Brands in Pakistan and Its Impact on Public Health.”
This research finds tobacco industry’s claim of more than 40% illegal cigarette sales to be false and shows the need to stop tax relief for the tobacco industry.
Dr. Sania Nishtar (Co-chair, WHO High-Level Commission on Non-Communicable Diseases) was the Chief Guest on this occasion. Other prominent speakers included Mr. Azhar Saleem, CEO HDF; Dr. Abid Q.
